hes ok, very swollen face, it got him on the cheek it happened on friday and hes going back to vets tomorrow as I think he needs to be seen again. poor wee sausage. I never saw the snake or heard him yelp. it just ballooned up. poor wee man.

coras been really good with him and is licking his cheek constantly. he cant get at it and I think it helps as he lies there letting her at it. looks like his cheek is going to pop. think he may be getting an abscess as well. no collar on as it might restrict his breathing. hes tough as anything as hes still scoffing his grub at top speed and wanting to go outside. but Im mollycoddling him. much to his disgust.

hmm gin! for medicinal purposes only you understand!!
yeah poor wee cratur.. hes got antibiotics now and the vet couldnt believe how stoical and brave he is. he didnt get any painkillers as he doesnt seem to be in pain tho historically adder bites are very very painful. hes still wheeing about like an eejit. he was on lead when it happened and i didnt even notice until we got home. then i thought it was a bee sting til i found the puncture marks. cora is to stop licking it the vet said as she may make it raw. anyway thanks you lot and piriton is a marvellous thing. i gave him 2 straight away then 1 4 hourly. hes still getting them as well as Im convinced thats whats stopped him being in agony. I just gave him them myself ,the vets just said that was ok when I asked on friday. he had no treatment at all until today from them as initially we thought it was a bee sting then by the time I could see the puncture marks the swelling was going down a bit so we just hung on til today. If id had no piriton Id have had to get the out of hours vet out I think.
but alls well that ends well. blasted viper! Ill kick its ass if I see it in my road!

it can be very scarry...my melody swelled like a balloon..due to be stung by a wasp /bee..and having a severe reaction...it affected her breathing..and her whole face swelled....hugs to you too jean...xxxxx

this was my melody..after being stung by a wasp/bee...this was after we had got back from the emergency vets and after having two injections..it was worse than this....it closed her eyes..her muzzle area went rock hard due to the swelling..it closed her nostrils...and she had trouble breathing.....

glad to hear your Rolo is almost back to normal..it is very scarry, i never heard melody yelp, but just kept looking at her and thinking..OMG she is swelling..and we rushed her to my vets......hope Rolo continues to improve..and hope you can get him back out for his walks again soon....

I am terrified of snakes at the best of times and at this time of year there are a couple of local walks I refuse to do cos there are snakes around!!!
One of my biggest nightmares is one of the dogs being bitten and me being too far away from the car to get them to help quickly enough..... oh stop it, I am panicking myself now!!!
So glad Rolo is ok and being such a brave boy.... he is gorgeous BTW
