No...not yet because we have decided that whatever the problems with this place, a house on an estate (even a posh one) is not for us. Not that I haven't lived on estates but after you taste peace and solitude, you really don't want anything else.
So.......what would make you buy a house. Garden? Kitchen? Bathroom? What would put you off? More importantly, what would make you buy a place, even though the track to it is a bit 'rough'? We have to make someone want this place regardless of the road up so what would make you want a house?

Location and garden, views - as for your place apart from the track it is perfect in every way
If I was looking in that area I would jump at it - most of your rooms are neutral colours and all are nicely decorated - oooo tis perfect i Love it
I am like you after living here I don't think I could go back to an estate - I would just like to be a bit further from the road than we are now
I like peace and quiet and a long track would be perfect. build a bit at the bottom to park cars so in winter and drifting snow you dont have to go up drive.. perfect.

When we moved here about 9 years ago, my best friend in all the world actually said what everyone else was thinking - What on earth have you done?????
We moved from a stunning little terraced house that was absolutely immaculate (parquet flooring, beautifully decorated, stunning kitchen, bathroom that was so big that everyone thought it was another bedroom!!!!!) but the location was Crap - it was on the main road and so noisy that you even had to invite the Jehovah's witnesses into the living room to hear what they were trying to tell you!
Then we moved here - and it was a "work in progress"!!!! Even we wondered what we had done to begin with - but we could see through all the mess and unfinished jobs and now we love it! It is a bit of a tardis and although from the outside it is just another little terraced house, inside it has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a good sized kitchen and an OK sized garden (for the area!!!!) Has been a lot of work and is still not finished, or perfect, but we love it!!
So I guess what I am trying to say is that when the right person comes along, they will just fall in love with your place like we fell in love with this - warts and all!! Good luck!

MM - what made you and Stumpy fall in love with the house in the first place? In all likelihood it will be the same thing that will attract a potential buyer.
Is there any way you could do any work to the track or is it just too big a job?

I bought my house because of the kitchen and the space for Daves projects. My kitchen aint massive but it is big enough and you have to remember I was moving from a flat that had a kitchen with a sloping ceiling and enough floor space for 2 people to stand side by side and that was it so my kitchen seemed HOOGE when I saw this house.
I would never move back into town again unless I became single as all the benefits of living in town are really only for the single dating lifestyle, being able to be there and get places easily as well as get home easier....If I was going out multiple nights a week at £15 a night to get home I'd be skint pretty quick living where I do now.
I like living out of town but with some neighbours...I think being completely remote might scare me a bit when Dave was away. There is a lovely community spirit where I am as with just 9 houses everyone knows everyone and keeps an eye out for each other. ;)

For us it was the peace and quite and distance from any roads for the cats. Space around the house and light and airy inside - all of which you have :044:
If you find the secret ingredient though let me know......8 weeks on the market and still not a single viewer for ours :(

Has to be the garden. I was so blinded by the garden that I didn't even notice everything wrong with the house. We did notice the track though. It is way too big for us to tackle and although Mrs Riding School has promised her boys will do it, they did a bit which stopped just after our strip of garden and they never did any more!
Tanya, I do not know why people haven't gone to see your place. It beggars belief really...

Would be location for me every time - yours sounds wonderful MM even with "the track"!! We do have neighbours where we are on both sides and to the rear but we overlook fields at the front. We are also lucky to have a large plot so we aren't all on top of one another. With all the work you have done of the house I would think people would find it hard to fault that - just got to keep selling the positives, work done, beautiful setting and views etc.

From me it has to be a garden and beautiful views! Peace and quiet too.

I have been thinking about this since yesterday
We live in a town and have been in this house for 20yrs we choose this house for the area, school, and the fact that it was on a large plot and we hoped to build on (We were disappointed and were not able to do half we planned due to our stupid council) never mind our wonderful neighbours who have all become good friends have made us realise that there is so much more to a house than bricks and mortar. This is our home and although we have often thought about moving to the country I dont think I would be happy. We all think the grass is greener

This is a move born out of necessity. If I could, I would stay here but as I cannot so I have to find ways to make it 100% saleable.....
