Paypal have made it very difficult for us to now use them. Despite asking for paperwork (and charities being kind enough to let me have said paperwork) it seems that this is getting even more complicated and I am at the point where I am now going to write to them today and tell them to forget the account and close it. I don't know if it is a case of someone reporting us or there is some other reason why they are so interested in the newly opened account but they obviously think I have done it for reasons other than donating to charities. Everything that has been sponsored has gone through the Paypal account so they know where the money is going.
I am gutted and very sad that things are being made so difficult.
Anyway, I am going into my bank as soon as I can and I am going to try and open another account so people can either do direct bank transfers or cheques. Hopefully that will be possible. Where a charity has a Just Giving account we can use that.
Sorry that we cannot keep up with the Paypal way of doing things. I hope this doesn't make things too complicated for you all.

I know but it made life easier and I am at a loss as to why they should suddenly home in on the fundraising account. VC has had donations for years with no problem........

Maybe they think I am not giving it all to charity......I don't know. Just wierd that the VC forum donations have never been questioned and yet I only managed to make 2 donations for the two dogs we sponsored and they have frozen the account.

Well, I have written and sent a letter from Four Paws stating we are authorised to fundraise for them but I think it will not be enough.

What a bummer :( I'm sorry this is getting so complicated, but we'll still get donations to you even if it's by carrier pigeon ;)
Let me know if I can be of any help :075:

Just read this
I am a person who tries not to think people could be so vindictive and nasty as to make life so difficult for someone who is only trying to help others
I am so sorry Sheryl if this has been the case.
Those who have done this should be ashamed.
I hope you have managed to sort something out, it is just not right when you work so hard for vc.
It just makes me sad

Och it may just be that they were checking accounts and we were unlucky...........who knows. I just know I am really not prepared to jump through as many hoops as they seem to think I should. We will get round it one way or another I am sure!! When you win the lottery you can buy me a Star Trek type transporter and I can just appear at peoples doors!!

Well, here is an extract of a letter I just received.
In order to verify the legitimacy of this account, additional information
is needed pertaining to the collection of donations.
If you wish to continue using your account to accept donations, please
provide the following information:
1. Subordination letters on official letterhead from Animal Care, Four
Paws Animal Rescue, NESSR and tower Hill Stables Animal sanctuary signed
by an officer/director/trustee of the parent organisation clearly stating
that you are an authorized fundraiser on behalf of the parent organisation.
2. Please add a bank account to your Paypal account and provide a copy of
its bank statement issued within 6 months.
3. Method(s) of disbursement to the beneficiariesSo now they want a letter from all charities (was just one) and a new bank account just for this as obviously if I use my own they think I am taking money and they want to see how we donate the money to everyone. It is too much it really is and I have asked them the process for closing the account as neither I nor my members are going to be treated like criminals. It is insane!!

I know it's all a bit of a faff but I guess they're only following rules and regulations relating to fundraising so try not to take it personally Sheryl. Unfortunately there's a lot of low life out there who have abused the "fundraising for charity" line which is probably the reason why paypal is being so anal about all the "proof" they're asking for. At the end of the day they're just covering their @rses. A similar thing happened with my Auntie's partner. He helps out on the boats with the RNLI and is passionate about the cause. He owned a few properties and was selling one of them so decided to put loads of his household stuff on Ebay and added a line saying 50% of all sales would go towards the RNLI...and oh boy did this stir up a hornets nest of worry warts and jobs-worths! In the end he told em all to shove it too!:045:
