View Full Version : Tia is poorly
Spangles

Tia has not been too great the last few days. Drinking nearly 2 litres of water a day - took me a while to suss out which of the Spangles it was who was drinking so much. Then the poor soul would be sleeping and wet herself - nothing wrong with her appetite I hasten to add - was still eating for Scotland. A couple of times she was sitting at my feet and when she got up there was more wee - but it didn't smell (sorry that sounds awful). I was beginning to worry because she wasn't my usual rowdy, bouncy wee girl. Yesterday went for a walk and she was fine - last night OH asked what was wrong with her - when I looked she was walking pidgeon toed and curled round in a crescent shape, tail between her legs and if anyone had walked in the door they would have been straight onto the SSPCA - you'd have thought we had been beating the cr*p out of her. Made an appointment at the vet today - she has got a temp of 105 but her bloods were clear - they tested kidneys, liver and for diabetes (which to be honest I thought that was what it could be). Now all we have to do is get a sample - I was out in the car park opposite the vets with a dish trying to get to her to wee and I was getting some funny looks - little madam would not oblige - got home and the first thing she did was wee. Her heart is ok, no blockages that they can feel in her stomach, no pain when they manlipulated(?) her back and legs so the conclusion is she has got a very bad bladder infection. Had a Metacam injection and a AB injection and the wee soul was so good - didn't bat an eyelid. Came home with a 6 day course of ABs and back to the vet on Wednesday for a check up and hopefully a sample.
I just want my rowdy, bouncy girl back and Finn wants his sparring partner back and Jan keeps going up to her and giving her kisses.
Sorry for the long post but just needed to get it off my chest.
Oh the worry dogs have been giving us all of the past few weeks but we wouldn't be without them.

Oh dear, hopefully it's a urine infection that can be treated with the antibiotics, it's such a worry when they're not well:075:

Same here. Hoping it is a bladder infection and nothing more. Must be something like that to put her temperature up I would have thought. There is a diabetes that doesn't show on a normal blood test but I don't think they are actually poorly with it.....at least not in pain poorly. Poor Tia and poor you, you must be very worried with it all. Big hugs for you and gentle wee squidges for Tia xxxxxxx

aw Spangles..
i'm so sorry to hear your news..and poor Tia..
hopefully it will be just a bladder/urine infection and nothing more..
as MM said..with a high temp..this would indicate infection going on somewhere..so lets hope this is what it is and a course of antibiotics will kick in and your gorgeous girlie will be back to her self in no time..
hope you get a positive outcome..
and sending huge hugs to both you and Tia..
vc's doggies defiantley now need a good run of luck health wise and every other way..

Tia is much better today - AB's must be kicking in. No accidents while she was sleeping last night and she wasn't pacing around either. Must be feeling better because her and Finn are play fighting as I type. Poor girl is still sleeping a lot but I hope she on the road to recovery. Back at the Vets tomorrow morning for a check up - have to try and get a sample in the morning - that should be fun.
Thank you all for being here and all the shoulders to cry on - don't know what I would have done without you lovely people. My problem seems minor compared to the worries some of you have had or are having just lately with your furbabies.
Thank you all again - will update tomorrow after I've been to the Vets.

Oh I am so pleased for you that Tia is feeling better! If she isn't having any accidents the antibiotics must be working their magic. I suppose she will take a few days to get completely back to normal. She is heading in the right direction though and that is the main thing. Big hugs to you and squidgy squeezes for Tia. :075:

Well we are back from the Vets and Tia has the all clear. Pee sample is normal and so now is her temperature. The AB's are working their magic - thank goodness she will eat anything as we have another 5 days course to take. She will not be too pleased though because she hasn't to get chilled so its lead walks until the weekend and no swimming in the loch - still its better that I have my rowdy happy wee girl back than the poorly girl of 3 days ago.
Her and Finn are now play fighting and the beds are getting thrown around the diningroom - but I don't care.
Thank you everyone for all your good wishes and being there - love you all
and big big hugs and snuffles from Tia
