I'm quite lucky in as much as one of my better friends is a plumber. They do tend to just disappear sometimes though.... mind you, when you're in a niche trade like that, you can do pretty much whatever you want!

My OH has recently re-trained as a plumber and is now going through his Corgi registration - it has cost a LOT of time and not to mention money. He has not given up his day job yet as he wants to make the leap into gas rather than plumbing.
He has advertised on yell.com only and for all those who say that getting a plumber is impossible - this, albeit, one advert generates VERY few enquiries. Regrettably, our area seems to be saturated with plumbers - I think he got into it 2 years too late.
Anyway, I have insisted that my OH treats all of his customers, no matter how small the job, really well and as though he is on House of Horrors and is being filmed - I suppose you never know.
Hope your boiler man turns up - have you tried looking on the Corgi website for others in the area ?

Not just plumbers... Carpet fitters too, useless creatures .
I just had the whole of my upstairs carpeted, and the whole downstairs done in lino (mainly for a certain muddy cocker  ) and the stupid carpet fitter first said there was too much furniture and that he should be charging extra to move it, :055: then tried to lay the carpet without underlay, which i'd paid for, :055: then tried to leave the old manky doorway joins, which again, i'd paid for, :055: then downstairs, he put the lino join on the wrong side of the kitchen, and when i tried to hoover, i found out the lino isn't even stuck down! :056:
They're sending another person (hopefully a different one) tomorrow.
