View Full Version : Coras being spayed today

shes to go in to vets shortly.. Ive managed to keep her fasted and its not been easy as she requires constant surveillance as she is a very ingenious thief.. she even steals bird seed! Ive hidden the water bowl and stopped her eating snow.
once she is in vets Im going to my friend sandra's and we are taking the rest of the spaniels hers and mine out for a walk . will take her wee grandaughter as well. sandras dog Jack , a lot of you have met him.. has been very unwell.. something gasstric but as yet unknown.. hes still vomitting but is pooing now.. his vomit was emerald green yesterday and orange the day before.. his poo was black and very constipated as he was dehydrated. Hes been getting water syringed into him at times he was too poorly to drink and that saved him having an IV. hes had a few jabs for various things from vets but they are at a loss. he is improving tho and is up for a gentle walk. it wont be fast as we will be going at a toddlers pace if she is out of her buggy.
anyway hopefully by this afternoon cora will be back home safe and sound. see you all later x

Hope Jack starts to improve too. Sounds a horrendous ordeal he has been through xx

thanks.. my guts are in a churn.. stopped off at sandras for a bolstering cup of tea and jacks been sick again this morning but its yellow now more normal looking.. hes on boiled chicken and rice and today he ate all hies breakfast first time since he got sick. hes going to havean actimel a day but not keen on taking it, yesterday was his first time. he drank half. hes normally a gutsy wee man so its not like him not to eat so am glad he ate today.
Cora wasnt happy being left in vets. poor cratur, I had her weighed and she is now 11.55kgs. so thats brilliant. the vet was delighted as its less of an anaesthetic risk etc.. she was hugely overweight in oct. HOW am I so disciplined with my dogs yet fail so miserably with myself? I must try harder! famous last words..
anyway I better get a shift on as sandra will be here shortly to go out for a walk with the rest. my guts are a turmoil.. I hate the waiting.. xx

shes home. she is sore she is sitting very awkwardly.. she has stuff for the pain but they said not to give her it until tomorrow as its daily and she had it already in vets.
rolo is shivering here on my feet.. its queer .. you would think he was not well but he is fine.. had a long walk and ran and ran.. hope he doesnt get what jack had. Jack seems much brighter.. he ran around with the others, tail wagging and although he was sick today he still ate his food.
think cora has fallen asleep now so thats good. will have to creep about so we dont wake her.
thanks everyone xx

Great news that she is back. It is not so bad when you can see them and look after them than when they are out of your sight. Bless her heart. Do you think Rolo just knows Cora is in pain?
I am dreading Lyla going. She is 2 soon and no sign of a season so I will get her spayed. She is such a wee toot that for some reason I am more worried than with the others.....
Anyhoos. Gentle wee squidges for the brave soldier..............and one for Cora too! Lol xxxxx

she looked better first thing tho still wont eat. she had a little water a while ago but is off hiding in a corner under a table now, she really has taken this hard. she had a bit of a temp earlier but seems ok now. her nose isnt roasting and shes not panting anymore. poor toot. and jacks off to the vets.. hes really not well.. think his kidneys are struggling now.. he was passing pure blood . so hes being anaesthatised scanned xrayed and catheterised today, as well as bloods etc. what a worry, sandras really really worried.

well its jacks kidneys and possibly his liver as well. hes on new med now just waiting on the results of the tests now..
and liath and toris sister tootie , she is riolo and jacks mum .. has a huge bowel tumour and I dont know if there is much the vets can do for her apart from keeping her comfortable. its sad. think her owner is thinking of having her PTS to save any suffering. Im finding this all very hard.... I want them all to be well.. positive thoughts please. xx

well tootie has had a reprieve.. it turns out she has been eating the horses food and had a severe case of bloat. very unusual in such a little dog.. however shes had lots of meds and TLC and I think its worked her belly has come down and she isnt in pain now, what a little monkey she is.. shes been on a diet and decided to supplement it with oats and goodness knows what else.. she is on a low residue diet now chicken and rice for a week or so. thankfully her stomach didnt twist round as I think that would have killed her.
jack is much better today and so is cora tho she is wearing a tee shirt as she is at her stitches.lick lick lick! so she has a 4-6 year old dora tee shirt!! my pals wee grandaughter was most amused by a dog wearing clothes.
rolo keeps sniffing her rear hes very interested in it all of a sudden.. is it the op? very strange. I put him in his crate earlier to give her peace.

shes wearing her second buster collar as she got at her stitches with the 1st and she got at stitches through the material of t shirt. so off to vets twice with her.
so here s hoping.. shes huffing like mad with her collar
jacks brighter so the meds are working and hes eating again. yey!
and rolos still got the hots for cora, vet says she may have been near her season and the spay triggered hormones or something.. anyway soon be back to normal hopefully. didnt know when last season was as her old owner hadnt a clue.
