I'd be interested to hear what other forumers political stance is.
Myself.. well I'm a fence sitter... thats FENCE sitter.. tsk tsk.

Yip i would describe my POV as being pretty liberal, although that doesnt mean that i dont have strong opinions on things.
I believe that power corrupts - therefore politicians will always become trapped between waves of public opinion and social pressure to at least be seen to do the right thing. Which is a bitch because some of them seen like decent people. In saying that, we joe publics do like a good soap opera huh? British politics is better that Eastenders in a lot of ways.

Where do your political marbles roll..?

OK here's my 2p's worth

I used to be into doing my bit and voting, believing that it would make a difference.. (modern studies at school gave me that opinion) BUT tbh I don't think it matters.. So I don't bother anymore. I think that most politicians are liars that don't fulfill their policies and take home huge salaries that we pay for.. If only us mere tax contributers had the resources that they have to spend! Ok I Know that we need a government, but I really don't trust them with all the spin that they come out with on a day to day basis.. Rant over now!!

hmm my political opinion is that all politicians should be locked up. they are all liars, con artists, greedy money grabbing and none of them care about the general public.
btw maggie is my hero :D i think she was great.

I've never been on 'the roll' so I have never voted and never want to. It doesn't matter to me who gets into power because they all give with one hand and take with the other, and rarely do any political parties deliver what they say they will!

I follow Politics too much, when I was young I thought my dad was crazy because of how wound up and involved he was about Federal Politics. Thirty Three years later and it turns out that I'm just as bad. Before I turned eighteen I asked my dad how I should vote, he told me that I should vote for whoever I feel represents my interests best.
Before I left I felt that none of the viable parties offered what I wanted......that said I am unashamedly right-wing. I don't believe in being taxed out of my pay-packet by idiotic amounts, I'm all for people coming to the country to live...but only if thy work to earn their keep and follow our values...after all you don't leave a country to go somewhere else and expect to live exactly the same. I don't believe in deeper integration with Europe, we pay in more than most of the countries, we get less out, more and more control of domestic policies goes to people who are not even elected in the first place and excuse me if that doesn't sound undemocratic. And I definetly don't like the fact that in 2014 the vote system of the EU will change to a system where population will determine vote strength......because Germany has the biggest number of voters. Why did we bother fighting in the WWII exactly?

Britain is really really screwed now, Devolution has been given to Scotland so that they have their own domestic parliament, the Welsh have the Welsh Assembly for domestic matters and England has nothing apart from a British parliament which has Scots and Welsh voting on English domestic matters......which shows when you consider Prescriptions in Wales are different than ours, Scots get far cheaper eye care and get the majority of Britains cancer-treatment whereas women with breast-cancer in England get told to "move north of the border" or see if the French will do it for you. I know three women here who've been told that as well and the French questioned why the English are relying on them more and more instead of being treated at the domestic level. That is really out of order.

The problem you guys have got is that Politicians are never seen to be responsible for their actions, a Prime minister is supposed to serve the people, instead you get a guy who tries to lead the people instead of being the public servant. You guys need a revolution (although not a Communist or Socialist one).

I think Maggie Thatcher was the last great Prime Minister that this country had, her biggest mistake was Poll-Tax......and nobody since then has got rid ot if, all they did is change the name to Council Tax.

I'm not opinionated btw.....

My stand on politics,is basically I dont give a s***, I think politicians talk the talk, but when it comes to making the decisions, nothing good ever materialises. I have never voted and never will, I agree that a woman prime minster would be the best choice, although will probably never happen again :(

I follow the trend of not caring. All as bad as eachother. The only party I'd consider giving my vote to is one who has very strong views on immigration I.E. lets keep the thieving bastards out.

Screwed your own country? Want to come and screw ours now? Sure, come in! The more the merrier! And have some free money! And a house! A big house! Work? Nah you don't have to work! And please feel free to turn large area's of our country into small versions of your own country! With lots of mosques! Want to blow us up? Sure, feel free! Your here and you have nothing else to do so why not eh?

Thats how it feels anyway. I'd like to think I'm not a racist and I have black & indian friends I just don't like seeing the country screwed up worse every year.

I think Velox you're saying what a lot of people are feeling , I'm not politically minded but I share your view . I especially love the bit where you said about turning parts of our towns into their towns  There's a segment of Gloucester called Little India ... I don't think I need to explain why . Also at one point it was impossible to find accomodation in Gloucester as Landlords were told to hold their properties open for immigrants and promised more money from the government if they did so . We are rapidly becoming the ethnic minorty in our country and it sucks to be honest ! My local MP is Mr Parhmjit Dhander , and no he's not a native ... need I say more

I couldn't agree more with you (Angela or Velox), in Longton which is one of Stoke on Trents "Five Towns" there's an area called "New Delhi" because it is now considered to be an Asian ghetto. The place where all my family lived til I was four years old went the same way before I was born. The problem I have with these people is that too many of them are simply not interested in integrating with the existing society, all they want to do is form a "society within a society".......and just look at the problems that are cropping up....so-called "Honour Killings", a willingness to impose Sharia Law on the whole country, condemnation of the capitalist society that they live in even though it doesn't top them claiming benefits, knifings at one of our local schools carried out by Sikh schoolkids allowed to carry ceremonial daggers.......hey, I've even got (sorry, should say "had") a friend that I did Karate with for five years and he got kicked to death outside a Pub by five Pakistanis and they got off because the judge said that they thought that they were doing "the right thing"....apparently they thought he'd come out of the pub without paying....even though his family own it. You couldn't make it up.

Last year one of the Government think-tanks estimated that within fifty years Britain would be the first country in modern times where the Immigrants will outnumber the indigenous population.....in other words two Generations from now you guys will be living under Sharia Law.
I feel sorry for you guys and your kids.

Come to Scotland! theres nobody up here but in-breds and farmers!
.. nearly..

seriously though.. thats a fucked up tale about your mate Phil - thats nuts!

On the issue of communities within communities, I think I agree with whats been said. I dont understand why more isnt done to integrate immigrants into the country, educate them, whatever. Are they put into the same areas by the government or do they just make their way there cos they know there are people they can "relate" to or communicate easier with? Perhaps theres not a loud enough political lobby to flick the governmnets ears until they cave in, what would be the point though? British taxpayers money "wasted"? Barriers between cultures bought down.. just a bit? (where there is the will).
Too much political risk? Well we are here now, shouldn't we be "building a better britain"?

I hear tighter border controls are on their way, maybe if the government taxed smokers less I wouldnt mind so much :P

After reading that back i clearly have no idea.

That last bit made me laugh :p

Seriously though, it'd be an ideal world where writing to your MP or Government would do something but these days they're far too ready to patronise you and then carry on with what they were doing before. Tony Blair (see: scumbag, grinning git, traitor) is a prime example of this, after Saddam got ousted he said that the Iraq people should have a right to vote democratically on their own future without the interference of outsiders, asked the same question about the British people having a referendum on how much Europe gets to control us and he said that we don't need to vote. Is it because he knew that the majority would probably vote against further integration?
This is the problem in Britain, people in power forget why they're there in the first place. Another aspect is that the parties don't offer concrete policies or ideologies, Tory used to be Right-wing, Labour a bunch of commie Left-wingers, Lib Dem wherever. Now Tories and Labour mirror each other and the Lib Dems come out with some of the stupidest crap ever (convicts getting voting rights affecting law anyone?) So basically there is no real choice, no viable alternative, Britain is stuck in a dangerous political mire and the society is going down a path that cannot be altered unless a different party with new and realistic ideas comes out.

And Cameron is a tosser as well.
