If the tombola goes down well then I may make it a 6 monthly thing so..................................... what I want is for members to name a charity. I will then compile a list and we can just pick a different charity each time. I was thinking just the smaller animal rescues but if other members would like to broaden that into all charities then let me know your thoughts x

My nominations would be....
GAGAH - the local Scottish greyhound rescue group http://www.gagah.co.uk/
and
Chinese Crested Rescue http://chinesecrestedrescue.ning.com/profile/crestedrescue another small rescue who often has a lot of permanent fosters and screwed up little dogs needing help before they can be re-homed.
No surprises there then :)

Most of the cats I've had in the past always came from Argyll Animal Aid - not the pretty young things but the ugly and tatty ones that nobody else wanted to rehome. It got to the stage where if I said I was away down to Balvicar to see Pat OH would check the car to make sure I hadn't got the cat carrier stowed away out of sight.

Lets hope the Tombola raises enough money
I suppose the next job is to get the prizes sorted and list them
Then get numbers out of a hat and put on each prize - then take a photo of the prizes with their numbers on and have ready for the end of the tombola
Then post the number 1 to **** depending on how many prizes we have with a few blanks in there too and then people can start buying numbers
Think you have done a marvellous job so far and what a lot of work you have put into it already.:059::075::078::047:

Just bumping this up to let people know we are starting to gather some wonderful items for the tombola. Actually not a tombola.....because every ticket sold will have a corresponding prize. Ok so some may be more expensive than others but that is the luck of the draw!! We have been lucky enough to have a fair few prize donations so I may be holding this earlier than expected. I was considering listing the prizes so people had an idea of what was to be had......what do you think?
If anybody has any ideas for the next charity fundraising event can they let me know by pm xx

What about listing a few of them and leave some as surprises - just a thought
MightyMouth
20th February 2010, 17:02
Not sure.......would need a bit more input from members though because if they don't want to do this I will hand the stuff we have collected so far to a rescue to raffle. Makes no never mind to me if people would rather not do anything like this, as long as I know.

No pet, nothing from anybody..... it was my idea and I will get the prizes rolling. I just want to know if members are going to buy tickets if I go ahead with it. Do they want to see the prizes that they could win or would they rather not know? Do they have any ideas for the next fundraiser? That sort of thing xx

I will buy tickets - and I quite like the idea of surprises (but then i have seen some of the prizes - and what I have seen are fantastic )
So i say we put it to the vote and go with the majority
Vote one - will you buy tickets (one yes from here)
Vote two - list of prizes or leave as surprises (I say go with the majority)

Well I like the surprise through the post idea, will definitely buy tickets and will put my brain into gear for the next fundraiser though I am pure crap at this sort of thing and usually just love and jump on everyone elses ideas xx

Photo competition is a good idea, we used to do something similar on a piggy forum I use. In addition to perhaps doing a first full blown photo comp., how about doing quarterly photo shoots using seasons as themes? Think this type of thing could work well as it's something we can all do from our respective homes.http://vocalcafe.co.uk/images/icons/icon7.png
What about guess the number of doggie treats in a sweet jar, could have several jars running at the same time with different treats in them - just make sure the majority of doggies can eat the treats on offer!
Thinking ahead, I know another forum does a huge calendar each year, but what about investigating doing something like that on VC? I have used Vistaprint in the past for business cards and calendars etc. and they are usually very competitive - we could use the winning photos gathered througout the year to make up the calendar or run another photo comp. specifically for calendar photos?
Will have a think and see if I can come up with any other ideas.http://vocalcafe.co.uk/images/icons/icon12.png

How about a doing a VC diary for us to purchase and use next year and each month could have a different theme
January Diet theme for the month we all submit our fave low cal recipe and we vote for the one published in the book
Feb-Month of love- fave love poem-picture
March-Spring Madness-tips on spring cleaning-submit our own money saving tips and again vote for the one to be published
April-Easter-Fave easter pic or tips on making easter themed gifts??
I will have to put my thinking cap on for some easier ideas to do but if we started up the monthly photocomp again it would make a nice calendar
