My son (6yrs old) started swimming lessons 3 weeks ago, he has never had lessons before but had been swimming with his dad here and there and had got to the stage where he could doggy paddle a few yards before putting his feet down, and was happy to put his head under and swim well until he needed to beathe.

So, 3 weeks ago we took him along to be assessed and he was put straight into stage 3 swimming, I was nervous but they were sure that he could cope (stage 3 is children confident and able to swim 10 metres which he had never done before)

You still with me.............. anyway week 3 today, and not only did he pick up 3 badges, his teacher passed him in stage 3, had him up in the deep end diving!!!!!!! next week he gets a badge for passing stage 3, and have been told he should also pass his 10 metres for front crawl and back stroke next week, his teacher is really impressed with him

And me? well I cried.......:078::078::078::078:, specially as I HATE swimming myself, and so proud that he has no fear

I have already mentioned this all on another thread, but I am so happy thought I would post here too

Sorry, waffle over now

Here is a pic of my little man :078:

:044:Awww well done wee man - what a cute boy you have there :053:

I think it is soo important for kids to learn how to swim as you never know when they will need it

yep you should always be proud of the good stuff your kids do :075:

Make the most of it - the time flies by

we came here for 6 months and I was promised we would be back down south before the kids started school

guess what ??? the last 13 years have been the longest 6 months of my lfe - but I still remember that day - my two are now taller than me :074:

Clever boy. It's great when they're confident in the water, they can have so much fun. And when he gets invited to birthday partys at your local pool, you won't have to get in with him!;)

Still a very proud mummy, Matthew started Stage 4 today, in the deep end!, and flew across the pool, it was so funny as they follow one after the other and Matthew kept overtaking everyone, he just motored accross the pool, think he shocked his teacher, and to make it even better the in-laws came to watch him today and was so impressed!
