Before we left the Uk we had a Samsung 42" LCD Flatscreen (not the rear-projected). It was HD ready and all that stuff and to be honest we were gutted to get rid of it. Fantastic TV, put it with a good DVD player with 5.1 sound and a good Satllite unit and you'll have a good Home-theatre setup.
We're looking at buying something similar here because we thought it was that good.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking at the Samsung 37" and it gets a pretty good write up, mind you it seems all Samsungs get a good write up. Good luck with your new system when you get it.

We bought an LG 37" TV and it's awesome. Just odd how quickly you get used to it!

Whats the difference between LCD and Plasma? I have a 42in Philips Plasma, wall mounted, and I love it! it's strange when you go anywhere else, where the tv is smaller, you feel like you need a telescope or something! :D

Quite a bit of difference really. One of the main ones is with contrast. A plasma is more capable of delivering a more true representation of black and white, where an LCD cant. Although an LCD should last typically longer than a plasma.

Personally, LCD is the way forward. Plasmas can leak - and despite what people say, that aren't refillable! (thats what im told anyway). Plasma TVs are usually a bit chunkier too.
