Hiya,
I'm still reviewing the best of open source (free) software and have started regularly using this tool. Basically what it does is handles your downloads and get the maximum download speed you can, by opening up lots of simulatneous connections to the same website.
So if you download a heap of stuff, this is worth a look. It's very slick, works perfectly - and is supported by the open source community.
