Is at the vets :( She had a cough a couple of months back and was put on AB's. It settled down but over the past week she has been coughing more and more after eating or drinking, so I dropped her of at the vets today for a sedation and examination/x-ray/endoscopy.
They called and left a message saying they want me to see the vet when I go to pick her up, so now I'm really worried. I've called back but the vet who saw her is on lunch, so I'm chewing my fingers off waiting for him to get back and call me :(
Little Indy has had so many illnesses in her early days, we're lucky she's pulled through them all. But I think we've been a bit complacent as she's been fine for a couple of years now......

Sometimes they want to speak about what they did and nothing is wrong! They used to do that with me all the time when they had Chloe. Hopefully that is the case this time. Let us know!

aw sorry you are having a rough time ..:075:
as sheryl said..
vets do panic us sometimes when they say they want to talk to us..
so try not to worry..its proberly just to explain what they have done..and what next course of treatment ect..
hope it all goes well at the vets..
and gentle hugs speeding you way...:075:

Ok...it's nothing horrific to worry about just yet.....the x-ray showed evidence of fibrosis on the bronchial tree, although my gut feeling is this is a result of the numerous bouts of flu she had in her first couple of years. The vet thinks it may be some form of asthma and has given her a long lasting antibiotic and steroid injection, but didn't seem to have a clear answer to why she is coughing specifically after eating or drinking?
Annoyingly they didn't have an endoscope that was small enough to fit down her throat - I wish they had let me know this before putting her through a GA, as I would have had it done somewhere that had one small enough if that was the case.
So it's a case of monitoring her over the next few weeks and seeing how she progresses. I'm wondering if there is any connection between the coughing and the cats using a litter box over the past couple of weeks due to the snow....maybe a dust type allergic asthmatic reaction, but that doesn't really explain the coughing after eating?
She hasn't lost any weight and is in general good health so maybe we are over reacting?
She is quite wobbly still from the GA so just leaving her in a warm calm place at the moment, away from pesky dogs!

Glad she is home and here is praying that the injection sorts her out
can understand you being mad that they didn't have a small enough endoscope to put down her tho
Love and hugs

Just read this, poor wee might, glad she is a bit better. If its any comfort there have been a large number of cats (I take it she is one of your cats) have been in our vets with similar symptons. We had a lovely little lady in the other week who broke down in tears her wee kitten was so ill, Mary fixed him however with AB etc etc and she was ever so greatful:059:
