View Full Version : Robbie is poorly
Nessie
5th December 2009, 10:34
Robbie started pacing at 4 this morning - not settling at all - every so often being sick - started as yellow bile, then just white foam - so took him for a walk about an hour ago and he did all the usual - all be it a little lack lustre - he ate some grass - came home and threw up the foam and grass!
He just wont settle - cant stay in one place - is trying to curl up in the strangest places! He's not a happy boy
Knowing his scavenging tendancies he's probably just easten something - but now wondering if something is stuck down there - not seen him swallow anything tho!
What do you think?

I think the vet once told me that dogs throw up their food if something is stuck in their guts (that shouldn't be) because it cannot get processed properly. The yellow bile is what Chloe used to chuck up...and so do the girls........ when they are empty. I would have them at the vet but I am a first class panic merchant when it comes to the girls :076:

oh poor Robbie :| If he's really looking uncomfortable and not settling then I would certainly say vets, especially given his sock eating habit ^^
Hope he's ok and is back to his bright bouncy self soon :075::075:

Well - went to vets right after posing - i too am a worrier - they think there is something in there - they gavr him ga and endescoped him - but nothing in the stomach - but there is a build up of gas and they can feel something - he's been x rayed and nothing showed - so its not metalic etc - so now they are keeping him on a drip to see if he can pass/vomit anything this afternoon - if not he's on the table and under the knife!
He's in the best place - but the house is sooooooooooooooo empty!
PS - def wont be making the meet tomorrow!!! Sorry all!! xx
Please do the poo dance for my boy - it has to be a better option than the knife!!

Well, vet phoned - they did not operate last night - and this morning he has gone onto oral fluid and no puking - so far so good. Tey are gonna try him on some sensitive food today to se if he keeps it down, but they say he seems a bit brighter.
They are hoping that whatever it is has shifted and is working its way thro - so if he is eating and drinking and perky by about 4 they will let him come home!
I'll be glad to get him back (he's not a noisy dog but oy is the house quiet without him) - but i would like to know what has been causing it.
Anyways - will keep you posted - here's hoping something horrible pops out!!! and he is back to my speshul albeit bouncy boy!!!
Thanks for all your thoughts - i will tell him when he gets home! (Thats once i forgive him fo making us miss our christmas meet!)
Gwen

Boyo will be home at 6pm!!! Cant wait - he has brightened up and managed to eat a little - so although vet is still convinced something is down there they are hoping it appears naturally over next 24 hours - he has not been sick today at all!
Yipee

Glad he has perked up. Molly is a foreign object eater too (usually paper/card etc). I felt like a magician one day as I pulled 3 bits of kitchen roll out of her butt still all joined together..... We need a full report once he has pooped :D

7th December 2009, 21:24
He is pooing - but to me it looks like overflow - some little skitters and some little marbles!
Yuck - haha - what a conversation
He had quite an unsettled night - and has had a lazy day - but apart from that he seems ok.
Who knows if i'll ever find it - but i have had very stern word with him today regarding his scavenging habit - not sure he listened!!

No idea how it all works - but its defintely a spaniel thing and hereditary - his mother and siblings all do it - all 4 in his litter have been in vets for swallowing socks or gloves whole!!!
