I took the kids trampoline down a couple of weeks ago for the winter and the grass is none too healthy underneath - some very bare patches - is it too late to do anything about it - as if i wait till the spring the trampoline will be going back up!:032:

To grow at all, grass needs a temperature of more than 5 degrees. It also needs warm moist soil. You will waste you time now. April and September are the optimum germination moths, but depending where you live, a month earlier or later will be ok. The seed will rot or be eaten if it does not germinate.

Well, if you leave it in the same place all year, you can get some coloured chips/mulch and crate a sort of feature!

Good idea - i only have a circle of grass which is slightly bigger than the trampoline and it surrounded by slate chippings - so may need to think of an alternative to grass as it really is an eye sore! Just wanted to try to save it as i like having some grass somewhere in the garden

For future ref a useful tip is to buy a few rectangular garden trays (deep & sturdy enough to hold a layer of turf) then when you trim round your lawn edges with your half moon, sprinkle a layer of soil into the trays then pop the bits of turf on top. If you keep them watered and trimmed over a period of time you'll have created a spare rectangle of turf to replace bare patches. We've got a number of these trays on the go and we use ours to replace the bits of grass Ruby n Ted ruin when they dig big holes or tiddle on the lawn:044:!
