I think Elsie may be constipated. She is still pooing but this morning she was mid poo (on the flipping landing!) when she let out a terrible scream and ran downstairs as though she'd been scalded, screaming all the way. Bron was in such a panic, she was crying because she didn't know what was wrong. The poos were quite small and I could see nothing obviously sharp that could have hurt on the way out so I'm guessing it's constipation.

She had a bout of vomiting and diawotsit all through the weekend (more V than D) but she is over that now.

Any suggestions?

The screaming when pooing happened once before (about 6 weeks ago) but never happened again till this morning.

Aww poor Elsie! When Ted had constipation after his cruciate ligament op last year he was bunged up for about a week so we added a little drizzle of olive oil to some veg and tuna once a day in his meals and that seemed to do the trick!:046::001:

liquid parrafin may help too. you get it from the local chemist. about 30 mls should do the job. repeat twice daily until all well.
if a person /animal is very constipated they can get bypassing of the blockage, of faecal fluid. Often very loose and folk often assume they have the diarrhoea rather than constipation, true!

you can add bran flakes to her meals as well. you use the proper bran and it also helps empty anal glands. has she maybe got a bit bone stuck? my sisters terrier had a bit rabbit bone stuck in her bum once and had to get a bit help remove it! she was fine after. she used to catch her own rabbits and it only ever happened once and she was 16 when she died so its not a common thing. my sister ( again same one) had a doberman who had learning difficulties, very sad but true. he ate a ball of baler twine. it took forever to come out the other end and he needed help as well. silly dog.

A bit of raw liver usually loosens things up as well - poor Elise :075:
