Hiya,
One of the delightful dogs has wee'd four times in the past week on the lounge carpet. I think its Mika (she's in season and I think its doing weird things to her noddle!). This has left stains where she did it. I thought I'd cleaned it well at the time, but can't have done a very good job as they're very visible and there is a damp smell. YUCK! Anyone got any good ways of getting rid??!
We had a dark carpet before which made the room look much smaller and we can't have laminate for fear of the oldie slipping on it so the beige carpet has to stay!
Heeeelp!

I think the only way to get is proper clean is to get a machine and wash the whole carpet...otherwise from past experience no matter how well I think I have done it there is always a visible stain on a light coloured carpet. To get the best results though you have to get the carpet as dry as possible when you wash it by hand...make it quite wet but then make sure you dab up as much as possible :044:

My sister has some stuff she uses on her cream Chinese rug. I can ask what it is if you want to try that before you clean the whole thing?

Thank you. I thought you might say carpet cleaner. I do find that cc's take the goodness out of the carpet and I try to use them as a last resort. I've just tried washing powder, its cleared it a bit, but still quite noticeable. I think my original mistake was not drying it enough?

Ooo, yes please if you wouldn't mind.

Ok will ask. The only reason I thought it was good was when Kali pooped on her rug and I had to use it in secret :076:

With having a puppy and 2 unhousetrained dogs here, plus a beige carpet, I know all about stain removal! :032: There is a product you can buy in PAH, called Simple Solution, it doesn't have any amonia in it, so it doesn't leave any smell behind. You blot up the pee, then spray liberally and it dries in clean. It's expensive, at almost £6 for a small spray bottle, and doesn't last long, but it does work pretty well.
I could have bought and paid for my laminate with the amount of money I've spent on this stuff lately. :058:

I use this too but I am not sure how effective it may be on stains that have already been washed and dried.

try soaking it really well then and then dry as much as you can....I would have thought if you resoak it might help dilute the stain....don't know how scientific that is though :045::045:

I managed to get curry out of a new pink carpet only been laid a month previous, I used vanish soap, Each time I treated, it I covered the area with a dry towel and stood on it mopping up the excess moisture.

Well, we've had to resort to a carpet in the end! Mika and Rio got into the food drawer last night (we thought only Rio had so shut her in the kitchen) but in the morning it was VERY apparent that Mika had to, and she'd been left in the lounge :032: YUCK!!! Anyway, we're going over it with the carpet cleaner and its looking (and smelling!) better thank goodness!

I did ask what my sister used and she said vanish wipes but I think she is wrong, I distinctly remember spraying something. She is trying to think for future use but seeing as she is older than me and I cannot remember then I think you have no chance.
When I use my carpet cleaner, I always do a last clean with just plain water. I think that the soap always leaves the carpet pile clumpy :076:
