I picked a load of blackberries and blueberries from the garden this morning and ate a handful with my breakfast cereal but I think we'll make some jam with the remainder later!:059:

Last weekend we picked and pickled some of our beetroot which should be ready for eating in a couple of weeks. I love pickled beetroot with a slice of boiled ham and mashed potato yummmmmy! But I've also discovered I like roasted beetroot too...and it always makes me laugh when it turns me pee pink!:045:

And talking about p's (but of a different kind) I keep eating all our peas straight from the pod, I can't resist them! Ruby n Ted enjoy them too, every time they hear me popping the pods they come running up to me with their tongues hanging out!:001::001:

The tomatoes are slowly starting to turn red now but I reckon we need a bit more sunshine for the rest of them to follow. Think we'll be making a lot of chutney and pasata sauces and soups out of these!

Well, our cucumber plant is going absolutely mad, we've got loads of them growing and they're HUGE!!!!!! will have to see if I can find a few unusual cucumber recipes to have a go at making!

Our jalapino chili's, bell peppers, onions and garlics are flourishing nicely too so I can feel one of my chili con carne's coming on soon!:044:

We've had a handful of courgettes but not as many as we'd hoped for - but delicious none the less - especially when they're sliced thinly and fried on the griddle pan! Last year we grew them outside on the patio and they just seemed to appear overnight - hmmm, maybe they don't like greenhouses?, will have to investigate further on that one!

Tonight we're gonna use up the aubergines we've grown so far and make a lots of moussaka for home freezing!:044:

Got loads of rocket, raddish, lettuce and french beans too - so all in all, not a bad crop (for beginners) this year! Oh and the pooches are enjoying munching on fresh carrots plucked from the ground too - just hope they don't become too fussy when they run out and we've got to go back to shop bought!:045:

The best part of all this grown-yer-own lark is when I go round Tesco's and tot up how much money I've managed to save myself on my weekly shop! ....as "every little helps!" :046:

oooh brilliant ange,:054:bet they taste a whole lot nicer than orf the shelves:078: last night we plucked a handful of the ripe cherry toms - they were soooo sweet and yummy the flavour is so vibrant and intense on yer tongue can't wait for the rest of them to ripen orf!:044: By the time we'd cooked the moussaka it was too late to eat any so we're having that for tea tonight with a spot of salad! We bought loads of those silver foil take-away containers (from Costco) so have got about 6 more portions in the freezer now for when we can't be arsed to cook anything from scratch!:059:

I've been stuffing my face on walks recently with the wild rasps - yummy! Today I had some strawberries out of the garden, tomorrow I will pick my first courgette, we have had the first tatties and peas are looking good for the end of the week and radishes not long after. Carrots are what I am looking forward to most. Brocolli got eaten by caterpillers, current bushes all died :( first year of doing it and loving it!!!! All in tubs BTW ;)
Love it love it love it!

I've been proud of my efforts, this is the first time grower, all in pots.

I've managed little gem lettuce, tomatoes, raddish, beetroot, carrots, beans and potatoes.

My broccoili was eaten, don't know what by. My tomatoes are still green so I may have to make then into chutney.
