I bang everything into mine. I think all modern crockery is ok to go in but some old fragile stuff may be risky. Anything that's hand painted shouldn't go in and if mine are anything to go by, bone handled knives shouldn't go in either :o)

with the new and improved dishwasher tabs, the glasses are ok. I put all my Denby glasses in there as well as the everyday glasses.
Wooden chopping boards would perhaps not be a good idea

Anything with wood on is not supposed to go in. I put some good pans in mine and they came out warped lol. Put plastic stuff in the top half.

If it is on a low setting I chuck everything in and also use it on a high heat setting for the knobs from the cooker and the shelves from the oven etc. Dont forget to clean the dishwasher occasionally it really does make a difference to how clean things are...

How do you clean the dishwasher?
I think you can buy dishwasher cleaning tablets and you switch it on empty. I've never done it though as I've hardly ever used my dishwasher.

Hee hee...just found a bottle under the sink that says 'put this in your cutlery tray upside down and run dishwasher on empty' so that is what it is doing. Jeez...what a dingbat :076:

Also I would like to add:
No matter how dirty they are, do not put your dogs in the dishwasher. :045:

Make sure when the kids load the machine, they do not put the cups and bowls up the wrong way - it's a good ruse to try and get out of doing the job in the future, but make sure they don't get away with it!!!!
Also, don't forget if anything has plastic on it (like a cheese grater) make sure you put it AWAY from the heating element - otherwise it melts and goes all out of shape!!!!
Ensure dogs get to have a good lick of anything in dishwasher, otherwise they get upset.
Oh, and don't let Rhum get right inside - he could get hurt!!!! (or Fern for that matter!!!)

Make sure your cutlery is in with the handles down so the food doesn't all wash into the cutlery basket and then the bit you put into your mouth sits in the dregs :)
Cheap crappy tupperware warps if you put in a hot cycle.
Clean out every couple of months wiht the finish cleaner stuff
Stick a lemon hangy thing in during the washes
About once a year put some salt through to break down limescale (not so important to us in scotland with soft water)
Put your feet up :)
