Hi got an email today from my Buddy who is a solicitor, that she had received from Lancs police. It is a huge scam please be careful.

Dear All

If you receive a phone call on your mobile from any person, saying that he or she is a company engineer, or telling you that they're checking your mobile line, and you have to press #90 or #09 or any other number, end this call immediately without pressing any numbers.

There is a fraud company using a device that once you press #90 or #09 they can access your "SIM" card and make calls at your expense.

Forward this message to as many colleagues, relatives and friends as you can, to stop it.

Many thanks for your time regarding this matter.

Phil Corris
Police Constable/Crime Prevention Officer

Sorry, just to clarify - I think it's a GOOD thing you posted. I'd rather have people post these things and have them be wrong, than not posting at all.

Im fairly sure that despite her criminology links, even Rachel didn't know this off the top of her head. She (like many) will have heard the rumour being debunked by a third party. Personally, I had to search google.

My advice though, is any time you receive warnings like this through email or whatever.... take the subject line and put it into google. Usually if it's a myth, the first few hits will be to sites which specialise in debunking urban myths or scams.

I am sorry but I agree with Lyn. I would rather someone tried to warn me and were wrong, than not warn me at all. :12: :12:

Awwww thank you guys.
I feel a bit of a thicko as it was implied on another forum that I was aiding and abetting electronic hoodies :11:
I will double check them in future but as it came from a solicitor i thought it was the real deal.... :05:
But then I had a word with myself.....its from a SOLICITOR :08:

Aberdeen Bridge of Don Tesco car park scam

A warning for you and any of your friends who may be regular
customers
to Tesco's in Aberdeen Bridge of Don
Over the last couple of weeks I have become the victim of a clever
scam
while out shopping. Simply going out to get some shopping turned out
to
be quite traumatic. Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't
happen
to you!
Here's how the scam works.....
Two seriously good looking late teen/early twenty-something year old
girls come over to your car as you are loading your shopping into the
boot. They both start wiping your windscreen with a rag and
windowlene,
with their cleavage almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. It
is
impossible not to have a good butchers. When you thank them and
offer
them a tip, they say "No" and instead ask you for a lift to another
shopping centre. You agree and they get in the back seat.
On the way, they start having sex with each other. Then one of them
climbs over into the front seat and performs oral on you, while the
other one steals your wallet.
I had my wallet stolen on July the 14th, 19th and 21st, twice on the
24th and 26th, three times on the 28th, twice just yesterday, and
very
likely again this upcoming weekend as soon as I can buy more wallets.
Please pass this message on to all the men you know to warn them
about
this scam.
