I,ve totally spoilt them

My two are so ruined,my own fault:080:although brilliantly behaved,the treats thing is getting beyond a joke,my fault again:Z,sir jasper has now taken to waking me up!! at 4 in the morning!!He nudges me till i get up,then they virtually cartwheel downstairs for treats,,and yes,i give it to them:070:i don,t want to be hard on them,because i,ll feel so guilty,but,it,s got so bad now,mabes is howling in the shop when i,m working,i,ve only got to look at them and say...my lovely kids...oh gawd,thats it then,i don,t know what to do,they might think i,m being horrible if i limit treats now:069:what we have done is,instead of fatty stuff they have cucumber and carrots ...help!!!!!!!!!! xxxx

They honestly will not hold it against you or bear a grudge if you ignore them sometimes and only treat sporadically and it will stop them demanding one of you.

Nothing in the world could persuade me to give either of my two a treat if the woke me up at 4am asking for one...I can not put on here what they may get if they try it :076:

I was the same with Gari, I would let him get me up to go downstairs at 6am to get him a biscuit. he did get a lot of veg treats, luckily he loved them, and would pogo up and down when I was chopping veg. I just couldn't resist him. :077:

I'm so glad now that I did spoil him, although I dare say some people somewhere would be giving you advice on how to stop it, but I think they deserve to be spoiled, as long as they aren't being grabby demanding bad dogs, there's nothing wrong with it in my eyes.:054:

ETA; just read Theresa's post, and of course it is true that they won't hold it against you. I do have to say that Duggie is treated very differently from Gari, he gets little and certainly isn't allowed to demand, but Gari was abandoned at 9 years old, was an elderly boy and I just wanted him to know how loved he was.

See if you are happy enough to get up t 4am and give them a biscuit then there is no harm done eh....it is only a problem if you are feeling forced and at 4am I would be feeling a whole lot of things and none of them good....but then I think my two know that hence why they don't even dream of it :045::045::045::045:

Everytime I went on the phone he would bark and bark and then I would giv in and give him a kong to keep him quiet so i could have my conversation

H stopped barking and would just pick up his kong and put it in my hand and automatically i would fill it up for him :Z

No wonder I ended up having to put him on a diet

These two are not as spoilt that way - but still spoilt cos i love them

the min Im awake Rolo knows and barks til he gets out for a pee. its a habit as hes not desparate hes just nosy.
then all 3 have to go out I stagger about and then they all look at the dog treat tin.. so they all get one and go back to their bed or mine till its a decent hour!
