Robbie stood on something out in the field earlier - i saw him flinch - he started limping and then lay down and started licking his paw. I went over to where it happened and could not see anything. I looked at his paw - nothing.
He is not limping now - but paw definately bothering him - is licking/chewing it all the time.
Checked between toes, pads etc - can't see a thing.
If he had stood on a bee (quite likely as the area was covered in clover), will it just ease off and stop bothering him?

you could give him a childs dose of piriton - if it is a sting or nettle sting then it will help take the itch/stinging away. You could also bathe his paw in warm water with bicarb soda dissolved in it - that it really soothing :020:

Would a bee sting not still be in him? I suppose it could have been any kind of insect that bit or stung him, Helen's advice about the Piriton is a good idea.

Poor Robbie I hope he feels better soon. If it was a bee sting I would have thought the sting should still be visible? Soaking the foot in bicarb is another good idea, it really does help. Note to self to buy some childs piriton for store cupboard!

do keep an eye on him..
this happened to my melody last year..it was either a bee or wasp sting..never saw it..but meldoy has a severe reaction..which resulted in an emergency dash to the vets..as her whole face, eyes, and nose closed..never did see the sting..but they had to give melody an injection..which took a few mins to start working..and was almost normal by the following morning..
i have a pic of melody..and she is hardley tell it was her...
her whole face went rock hard..like it was filling with water..
scarred the life out of me..as she struggled to breathe..
and i watch her like a hawk now...just incase it happens again..

hope your doggie is ok...
but this is what bee / wasp sting can do..i think it is quite rare..and proberly not the norm..and piriton would'nt have helped in melodys case..

Yikes Terri...usually your dogs look lovely but Melody looks really scary in that photo bless her.
Could it maybe have been a nettle sting ??? Glen chews at his foot if he stands on nettles but I can never see anything

like i said just keep a close watch on him..and if in any doubt phone your vet..more so if it affects breathing..in melody it happened almost straight away..one min she was ok..she was out in the garden..i never heard her scream or yelp..but i just kept looking at her and thinking she did'nt look right..all of a sudden her whole face started to swell..and she started to shake...and then it affected her breathing..so flooring it to the vets..they ahd an injection waiting..and was almost put into her as we went through the door..it did act very quickly.they watched her a while..but you could see the sweeling go down..i'm now very aware of this..and watch her like a hawk..
the chances are if it has happned a while a go..and no reaction..the chances are piriton will help..and you will not have to go through what i did with melody....
just watch him thoguh as all dogs react differentley..
hugs to robbie and hope his paw feel better and less sore soon..x

aw bless her ..not one of her better photos...i admit..
and i can tell you she looked worse in the flesh than she did in that photo..as it was taken after we got back from the vets..and not before we took her...
