What type of pillows do you guys use? I've got feather ones at the moment but I'm fed up with them as they always seem to go flat as a pancake after a few hours sleep and I'm waking up with a stiff neck and back. I'm considering treating myself to some of those memory foam ones but don't know if they're any good - has anyone tried them? They come in different shapes - one looks like a normal pillow shape but the other looks a bit like a lamb chop if you look at it side on! Any recommendations greatfully received!:044:

I use anti-allergen pillows and replace them regularly as I have asthma, I like the big fat bouncy pillows as I like to sleep high up. :050:

I've heard the memory foam ones are really good, but haven't tried them.

I hate having to buy new pillows - can never buy one that I can be comfy with and I need to buy new ones soon as they need replacing

No idea what sort I have now think they are asda medium - but not sure

Would be interested in hearing about the memory foam ones if anyone has used them etc

Iv got a range of pillows. Usually I buy the really cheap ones out of asda and bunch them up together once they start to go flat (quickly). I tend not to go for down pillows as they always seem to crinkle constantly when you lay on them, plus there is almost nowhere that cleans down pillows .. I don't think you are meant to put them in the washing machine.

I do now however own a down pillow because my dad bought really good expensive ones, and they are so plump and luscious. They are made my Dorma and apparently cost a fortune. Most of the ones I have seen online arnt though, but I can certainly recommend the make.

Oh, and I have tried the memory foam.. didn't like them much. I like squashy pillows you can hug.

I have the ones that you get in Marks, two for a fiver, or something.

They are great. I don't like feather pillows, they need to be nice and soft. :050::050:

we splashed out on Tempura memory foam pillows a few months ago and as much as I really liked it at first, the novelty wore off really quickly and I'm now back to the normal fibre filled ones - don't mention it to OH though, the tempuras were really expensive

the normal shape - went off because it was too hard. Not sure if the lamb chop shape would help with that because part of it is lower but it's a lot of cash to throw away if you don't like it. Buy one at a time and take turns using it but give it a couple of weeks, dont swap around every night.

Also, it comes in a protective cover which keeps twisting around the pillow and because the pillow is such a lump, it's really hard to get it back in place properly.

The ones I've got now support my head for as long as it takes for me to drop off to sleep but I wake up in the middle of the night with my head a gnats knee cap away from the matress and the outer sides of the pillows acting as giant ear muffs! :045:

*laughing* oh dear.
I tried the lamb chop memory foam one and it really wasn't comfortable, especially since I generally sleep on my side. Perhaps my shoulder's arnt as broad as I would like, but it seemed to me the lamb chop bit was just too high and wasn't comfortable at all. Also was a bit too hard on the ears when laying in the one position for a long time.

Im currently liking my dorma pillow very well indeed. My mum gave it to me when she found it was too high for her, even after having it for ages, so she went back to using her old flat pillows and gave me it. I tend to sleep with my head on one pillow near the end, and hug another one so you get the V shape (tried the v shaped pillows, but you have to buy or make new cases for those which were a complete pain), and so I don't get the earmuff situation. On the few times I have found myself waking up on my back, the pillow was fine, no real problems with deflating too much in the middle.

I spotted some of the contoured shaped memory foam pillows in tesco's (£15 each) so we're giving them a try. We're finding them quite comfy and are having a good nights sleep with them - the only trouble is they have a strange pong about them, I hope it wears orf! Also they don't seem to make/sell pillow cases for this odd shape either so it looks like I may have to get the old sewing machine out and run some up! :044:
