I,m fed up of bugs eating the leaves on my plants:055:i,ve grown tomatoes and peppers and now sunflowers ..i,m using a bug spray from homebase,but i don,t think it,s that good! i used washing up liquid for a while but alas didn,t do much either...any ideas? and i,ve smeared vaseline round the rim to stop slugs,that seems to be working though:044:xx

The sooner this someone gets back online the better it's costing me a bomb ringing her mobile - off to see her new home today (yep PG)

Fag ends. Put all your filters in a buckets of water, leave it a while then strain and spray the water over plants. Instant bug killer.

eeeewwwggghhhh no offence Sheryl, but I wouldn't put that anywhere near my tomato plants :045:

I used a garlic concentrate that you diluted and sprayed on a few years back - it worked a treat for controlling aphids on roses - and it's perfectly safe for food crops.

I couldn't find the exact one anymore, but this looks similar :044:

Hey, my Mother used to know a guy who grew the best tomatoes round his village for years. He put.........his own wee on his! :074:

Just found an organic site that recommends the fag end approach.....mind you, they did have a disclaimer saying it is actually illegal in the UK to use any home made preparation on your garden! :076:

It says further down that nicotine was the biggest pest control product used in the 19th century.

I found out that you cannot use the nicotine spray on tomatoes, eggplants or peppers because...........they are too close a relation to the nicotine plant!!
