Well now that i am foot loose and fancy free (and that luke and the cats have managed to destroy parts of my wallpaper)
I fancy decorating my bedroom.
I did like the dark brown with silver but as the rest of my house apart from the bathroom (which is a morocan red colour with gold) is cream and dark brown I fancied a change.
Anybody got any suggestions....bear in mind therre is a 4 year old two dogs and a cat that mosey in and out.

 I wondered what sort of ideas you wanted when I read the title :D

What colour/type is the flooring? Is it a big or small room?,Light or dark? Which direction does it face? Sun in morning or afternoon? What sort of furniture do you have there, wood? light or dark?

I usually look at what I am leaving there and use that as my starting pint, fave duvet cover/carpet/picture etc.

Blue and cream would be my choice.

well it is relatively big, its has a stripped pine floor, victorian cast iron bed and pine drawers, however i will have to keep the bed as 1 i can't afford a new one and 2 its to blooming heavy to move. I don't object to painting the furniture.
It is at the back of the house and doesn't really get much sunshine after lunch.

Oooooh with a cast iron bed shabby chic would be great. If you let me know the colour scheme when you've decided i'll try and make you a co-ordinating cushion. :D

well atm i don't have a bedroom(been sleeping on the sofa) but i keep thinking i'll turn the spare room into my own. its at the back of the house so north facing. i want white walls with soft gray curtains, carpet and bedding with a spash of colour dotted here and there with pictures etc. i hate patterns. everything has to be plain.
alpha you could throw a decorating party

Now that is a cool idea!
I can just imagine the chaos, involved with paint and wallpaper, loads of dogs, and booze.
It would be really shabby chic!
i am quite tempted by black and silver as well,

My friend has been doing up furniture for years in French shabby chic style. She has only just launched her web site, so it is pretty small atm, but there are a few ideas here. Look under 'one off originals'

I was thinking toile de jouy when i said blue and cream but scroll down this page and they do it in black too. Or were you thinking black and silver streamlined rather than traditional?

Hows about putting in a pole dancin' pole! A mate of mine lives next door to a 'private stripper / dancer' and she's got one in her bedroom.... u can see it from outside!

OMG! Don't put in a dancing pole!!!

If you like darker colours and shabby chic then there is some GORGEOUS wallpaper in homebase at the mo. It's dark brown/black with big teal flowers printed on it with gold stems etc. Really gorgeous!!! Would look amazing on one wall with the other walls painted either a cookie brown colour or light grey... Its how I want to do my room but we have to get rid of the dratted scabby built in wardrobes that the last owner left.. Anyone want some pale wood fitted wardrobes with glass doors and gold handles that I think look like sick???? No??? Just an idea. I LOVE interior design and just WISH i could have the money to have free reign in my house and do exactly as I wanted.

My bedroom is done in tones of purple. 3 of the walls are plain magnolia then I have a feature wall in 'manhattan mauve' which is a sort of heathery purply shade, the carpet is a creamy beige colour and all that's in there is the bed and 2 bedside units as I have big built in wardrobes. It's really nice even if I do say so, very tranquil. I have purple curtains (sort of damsony) white bedlinen with purple/lilac embroidery and purple candles and photo frames and stuff in all different tones to bring out the colours and a beautiful Colin Prior photo called 'Moonrise' over the bed which is of the moon rising over mountains up north and the sky is all pinks and purples. My spare bedroom is blue tones and the living room is chocolate brown and teal which I really like. I did a chocolate feature wall again but kept the other 3 cream and then added a brown and blue rug, cushions, curtains, pictures, bits and bobs etc. I like to keep things quite simple and add accents of colour. There are some really nice greens out there, I would like to do a room in green tones from mint to sage... need a bigger house!

Our bedroom (when we decorate) will be a cream on 3 walls with the chimney breast wall a dark purpley colour. The living room is going a light coffee colour and one wall chocolate colour. at the minute everything is beige and bright yellow :04:
