One of the other houses MM and I really like allegedly has deer around the area. The current owner says they jump over the fence on a regular basis and into the garden where they eat the veggies & fruits.

Is the current owner being truthful and is it simply a case of erecting higher fences?

(I'm hoping he is so the deer eat all the veggies and saves me being exposed to them on my dinner plate...haha!!)

Yip they love fruit :059:You would have to deer fence the whole place or section off your veggie patch!! How lovely they will be having babies soon:077: Even more to eat the stuff :048:

I would reckon if you erected a mesh covered frame for your veggie plot you could keep deer out (it's certainly what someone locally has done, and there are loads of deer near us!)... it's the slugs I'm struggling with!!!

Thank you for the reply. If we get the place i'm sure we'll be bugging you all for help on how to control the animals and keep our veggies & fruit.

Cheers :044::044:

You've been to my paddock Stumpy - but before you came it didn't have that 6ft deer fence round it and we had deer in the garden all the time.

So that is the sort of fence you need to erect to keep the deer out - we still get deer in the other part of the garden

I'll try and find pics and post them later

Thats what Daves mum does, they still lose a percentage to deer but they don't mind them having some just not it all :044:

I may end up creating a fenced off / enclosed area just for the veggies but either way, i'll certainly need input from those who have been where we're hoping to go, cheers :044:

They've got a fence round them and hang old cd's and stuff from it which seems to work ???

As a townie it sounds very romantic seeing deer hopping in and out of your back garden - but I guess in reality it would be a real pain. Plus if it happened here Ruby n Ted would have absolute caniptions - they're bad enough when Mr & Mrs Pigeon come for tea!:045:

I think to plant trees, just to see them all stripped would be heartbreaking. Must admit though, I am more concerned with Kali and Lyla. I think if we did move to a rural location it would be a case of how much rabbit/deer poo could you eat/roll in. :055:
