and after a lot of discussion tonight we have made a decision of what we want to do (get some blood tests done etc)
Our vet has retired and OH is not happy with them so i am going to have to look for a new vet - so my question is how do you assess a new vet or do you go by word of mouth to find a vet ???
Please any help info is greatfully received - as we have always been to the local vet

word of mouth and going to talk to them - we found a new Vet's for Jarv by personal recommendation, and I then rang them and they encouraged us to come in to meet them, and chat with the main vet. Helps that he does believe in Homeopathy as well and has a really well known Homeopathic Vet come in one day a week (and they don't mind raw feeding!)
It's a small surgery and it's privately owned and I know if Jarv needs care he will be looked after by a very small dedicated team and that's also a big plus to me.
Nothing you can share with us Cazza - you ok?

You could always come down to me for a visit and try out my vets while here. Hope it's nothing too serious Mrs, I expect a full report over coffee next week!

Had me worried there Cazza!!!
We have been lucky as the vet we go to is the same one I went to about 20 years ago - unfortunately they have lots of trainees cos they are a training practice, but you can ask to see the main man.
I made friends with the practice nurse and always ask her to make sure I get the best vet on each time we go and if I don't like them, I tell her to make sure we don't see them again!! (Only happened once so far!)
Good luck - ask around and find someone you trust!
