oooh err, the nickname you just put some numbers after it or make up another one but put numbers at the end.
as for the java???????????? i have no clue. i was getting the rest what you got but no java message. in the end because i use wireless off other peoples broadband the one i use with the strongest signal has blocked chat rooms :o i was a bit miffed and i think i know who's it is. i was wondering if i asked them to stop using parental control would it be cheeky ;) instead i have used another isp thingy but the signal keep cutting out. i felt lonely tonight coz they were all having fun
i think its bullying by isolation

Hi,

Sounds like your Java is switched off in your browser. You can find out by doin this...

1. Go to Tools menu (top)

2. Go to Internet Options

3. Click the Advanced tab (top)

4. If you scroll down that list of junk, you should see one that says something like "Use JRE 1_5.334 for applet". Is this checked??

lyn
17th September 2007, 12:23
jools, you can log in with any name but its easier if you use a name and some numbers at the end. good luck in there and think of poor owld me who can sometimes get in then i lose connection :04: :04: :04:

Simon

On the login screen, there is a link to register a username - but i've no idea how it all works

Easier just to use a guest login!

Wrong again Simon. Have looked and it's been switched on all the time It is JRE 1.6.0_02 though. Could that be the reason? :? It is the one I downloaded from your link.

lyn

happydog, thats the problem. install the newer version. :D

Simon
18th September 2007, 08:59
It shouldn't make too much difference. But if you're seeing a cross instead of the chat applet then your Java isn't running right. Something else may be preventing it from running though.

lyn

simon, i had the same version as happydog and i couldn't get in with it. once i installed the newer version i got in.

Simon
18th September 2007, 10:19
But if happydog followed the original instructions, she will have got the very latest update from Sun - therefore, her version can't be more up to date!

I wonder if we'll ever see EVERYONE on there at once!?

happydog
18th September 2007, 10:53
Yes Simon and Lyn. It is the latest version I have installed. It was from the link Simon posted.
Lyn I think you might be a trifle hungover? :?:     ;) :10:

Simon What else could be stopping it? Any ideas? I am wondering if it is anything to do with my Norton package...... It usually is  .

lyn

happydog i have norton somewhere on this lappy but i can't find it. i know if you have norton it can be difficult to get into some things. try turning it off.

Lol... it's not gonna do your PC harm to switch it off and connect to the chatroom, just to see if thats causing it. Just don't do anything else at the same time (downloading / browsing). Once we know WHAT causes it, we can find a resolution. There may well be an option in norton (security center??) that protects against the use of Java apps.
