Haven't seen this on the news yet - but only just turned the TV on
It's scary what they will do to try and get into the UK tho, I wonder why they think the grass is greener here ???
I agree we are in trouble and this is one of the first things the government should be taking a BIG stand on - they should be looking after us forst before they start letting all these other people come in
I was out of work for a while and I decided I was gonna claim and I got nothing, but this lot get housing benefit food allownece etc - makes my blood boil cos I had worked and paid all my taxes etc and got nowt and they were using it to look after these others :042:

well thats the thing isn,t it fb,you try and claim here and they give you the third degree:041:it, makes me mad too,the border controls are rubbish here, they need to address the issue and stop all this, the workers are struggling to bit,s i,ve seen so many chaps {builders}recently coming in the shop, that have no leg to stand on,all the immigrants are working for less, people have told me,how their businesses have folded, they have families, mortgages etc,it,s a real big worry,we need to have a voice that is heard, not get brushed under the recession carpet:041:xxx

On the other hand.. these people are putting their very lives in severe danger trying to do this, trying to come to this country. They don't do it for a fun ride, they do it for a reason. I don't see many of us trying to hitch a ride on cargo trucks we could easilly be killed on to try and get into another country. Pause for thought there. The uk does have problems, but they are nothing compared to what some of these people are going through in their own countries. A lot of immigrants will take jobs that even in these times we would not do, and I would think it is the employers taking on cheaper labour that is the problem.. though it might keep them afloat long enough to be able to hire uk workers at a later date instead of just going into administration.
What I am trying to say is that yes, there are problems with border control. But lets not try and jump on the media induced bandwagon. This sort of thing has been going on a long time, and wielding pitchforks isn't going to do much good.
Especially in the current economic crisis, it is too easy to want to point the finger at someone, a banker, some asylum seekers, immigrants, etc but lets face it, the media is just filling in the gap. There isn't a lot more that the government can do about the financial crisis at the moment, and longer term it will become better. All the media is doing is distracting the public to look in another direction, because we are all sick of hearing the same thing about irresponsible bankers and firm closures. You will see a lot more of this sort of reporting over the next few months/years, so better get used to it. The media will feed us things to hate and be righteous about, moving from one topic to the next when we get bored. Easier to hate something not associated to our personal lives than something painfully close to home unless they think it'll sell papers.
Oh.. might want to move this to one of the general threads.. it isn't really a review, more an opinion piece.

I agree with you Darren about the people putting their lives in danger and there must be a good reason for it - and I feel sorry for them I really do as they must be so desperate.
And the other comments you have made make sense too.

It simply doesn't sell papers, or make people watch tv on things they either have heard to death already, or don't want to have shoved in their faces (because it is too close to home). The media is an animal that feeds off our cash, and we won't pay out to hear stuff we don't want to. Much better to focus on other things.. like celebrity angst and someone else to point the finger at.
The Sun, News of the World are prime examples. News articles etc that post this sort of stuff are very much 'right' papers, 'good old british', scaremongering, somewhat biggoted views that don't necissarilly take into account all the facts, just enough to sell papers through shock and outrage type headlines. Quite a few news programmes and 'documentaries' take one sided views like this as well to grab headlines and point the finger without taking into consideration all the facts.. 'pedigree dogs exposed' being just one of them. They don't need to give all the facts. It sells more papers not to.
