View Full Version : I've found a lump

On Sam left hip. It moves when I move the skin, but I can't see it because of his hair. It's pea sized.

He wont let me touch it. When I try to have a look, he keeps trying to lick me, so I can't get a proper look at it.

Think a trip to the vets is in order in the morning :062:

aw poor sam.
try not too worry ( easier said than done), the chances are it is a cyst or a fatty lump. the good thing is that it can move with the skin, which would indicate its not attached to anything.
but just to be on the safe side, and your own peace of mind, have the vet look at it.

Well, at least it moves which is always a good thing! Is it red or have you still not seen it? Maybe something got him on his walk? Or it could be a histiocytoma which come up and go down by themselves usually. Or a wart? Probably nothing to fear so try not to worry doll :075:

Jen try not to worry. I am sure it is just a fatty cyst. My mum and dads old cocker used to get them all the time. I hope everything goes ok at the vets.

As Terri and Sheryl have said it is good that it moves! Better to be checked by the vet though, even to put your mind at rest. Let us know how he gets on. Big hugs to you and Sam :075:

I can't get to see it at all, although if it was red, I am sure I would have been able to see it. It was there before yesterday, I felt it on Saturday night.

Could be a wart, I suppose, didn't think of dogs getting them. Just hope the vet doesn't need to shave him???

Awww, Chloe used to get warts all the time...and blocked hair follicles which also felt like little lumps. Vet will be able to see without shaving him I would expect. Try not to worry. Easier said than done I know :075:

Always a worry to find a lump, but sounds like a reaction to a bite or something....especially if he finds it irritating when you touch it.....hopefully the vet will put you at ease tomorrow :075:

Thomas has one on his back Jen, the vet says it's probably just a fatty lump but keep an eye on it in case it gets any bigger or starts to irritate him, hasn't changed so far :078:

Everything is fine and Sam was an angel. :078:

She said it's just a blocked hair follicle caused by an excess of skin oil. So just to keep an eye on it and if it gets any bigger to go back.

She cut away some hair, so it makes it easier for me to find it and check it.

So glad it's nothing more sinister.

See! Told you not to worry :075: I think I mentioned blocked hair follicles. Chloe used to get these all the time too. Just a collection of gunge at the base. I used to take my nail and scrape until it came away :076: When she first got one I thought it was a tick! We can all relax now :059:

Yeah the vet did say that it would probably come to a head, just like a spot. :035: Don't fancy squeezing it though.
