i posted this on col ages ago but its amused me for 31 years :08: :08:
i have to tell it like i was told it so its in 1970s prices :D
there was this fella who wanted to buy a car for fifty quid.
he was skint so he decided to borrow the money.
he borrowed £12.50 from his mum and £12.50 from his dad.
when he went to buy the car he haggled and got it for £22.00
with the three pound he had left he gave his mum and dad a pound each and kept a pound for himself.
so that meant he owed his mum and his dad £11.50 each.
if you add the two amounts together that makes £23.00 plus the £2.00 he has already given them equals £25.00 so where did the pound come from that he kept for himself???????

I think I burst a cell thinkin about this.
Im sure I have seen this before, but it's still confusing!
Like that one in Labyrinth with the two talking doors. One always tells the truth, one always lies. One door leads to freedom, one leads to certain death.
She's allowed to ask one question to either door, to find out which one is the right one. Whats the Q and to which door?

The pound he has for himself is part of the £25 he borrowed in the first place!

When I get to work on Monday I'm going to play with 25 £1 coins and see how it works :15:
There is a trick there somewhere and the brains of our team will work it out within minutes - unless I do it first :D

This is the bit which is misleading nonsense.
He borrows £12.50 from each of them and pays them back £1.00 each, owing them £11.50 each, a total of £23.00. He has spent £22 on the car and has £1.00 in his pocket which he has kept. That's the £23.00 that he still owes his Mum and Dad.
