Just posted this on COL, but I know you lot will answer quicker.

I think Sam may have kennel cough, but how do I get him to take the Manuka Honey or Benylin and what Benylin do I get?

Poor Sam...sorry no advice as (fingers crossed) haven't had to deal with it yet. I think there's a fair bit of it around Aberdeen at the moment as well.

Hope it doesn't develop too much and someone who knows what they're talking about answers soon:075:

My two took is straight from a spoon. I used a serving spoon so there was only a little liquid on a big spoon.

Big hugs to poor wee Sam :077:

Lyla drinks a spot of warm water in the morning with a teaspoon of honey in it. Because it is so sweet she loves it! I have the active 10+ but have found a 20+ one that I am going to buy. I would get the childrens Benylin but have never done that before so not sure. I know I got the childrens anti histamine syrup for Kali.

Give the cough mixture with a syringe, insert te syringe along the side of his mouth aiming for the back of the throat and squirt in gently, benylin chesty cough was the bottle I got for one of my customers dogs. Honey, I give mine honey often and stick it on a spoon and they lick it off :007:

Hope the wee man is better soon :054::078:

I managed to get Manuka Honey, the 10+ one, and he took it off the spoon no bother.

I feel like crying everytime he coughs, it's horrible to see him like that. He is completely flat out on the floor every time he coughs, it's horrible.

He's supposed to be going to have his hair cut tomorrow, but that will need to be cancelled now.

I've also called the dog walker to let her know too.

Tesco do it too but this place does 20+ which is doubly better for you as the higher the umf, the more healing it is. http://www.nutrisun.co.uk/product_info.asp?ID=4260

Just back from the vet and he gave him a good once over. It's not in his chest, but he has a wee bit of a temperature. He also said the back of his throat is really inflamed, so he gave him an anti-inflammatory injection and anti-biotics for a week.

Phoned the girl that runs the day care he goes to and she told me that there was a dog there last Tues and Thurs who had it, but the owner failed to tell her (he'd had it for about a week). She is livid! She also offered to pick up the bill this morning too. She had already told the vets that if any of her clients came in, she would pay for it, but they never said anything when I was in and I did mention that he was at her daycare. (She works at the vet as a vet nurse, part-time).

My poor wee boy.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

He seems so much better since he had his jag yesterday at the vet. He coughed a couple of times this morning, but no way near as bad as Monday night. Here's hoping he's on the mend. :059:

I knew I would speak too soon. Sam peed the living room floor on Wed and then peed up at my mum's yesterday, not sure if it's just the anti-b's? His coughing has calmed down a lot, which is good. :044:
