To say im worried is an understatement :035: She is such a wee popett and to think of her shivering with fear in the vets is getting to me :069: I have aired my concerns and they have assured me she will be fine but I just cant stop worrying :069:

I am sure it will be fine but i know i would be worried if it was one of my girls. Thinking of Sweepie on Thursday.

I worried when both Poppy and Feebster were spayed. They were both fine - in fact with the Feebster you wouldn't have known she'd had anything done :046:

Cazzie,
I know it's a worry but she will be fine and she will only worry until she is sleepy then she will not know a thing. I have had all of my lot done and cared for Foster dogs which just been done. It's the keeping them calm and on a lead after which is a pain.

I know it's easier said than done to tell someone not to worry and I was just the same as you when Poppy got spayed last year but she was absolutely fine. :044:
I was very grateful to the nurse at the vets cos as soon as I walked in with Poppy she gave me the consent form to sign then she took Poppy's lead and said we'll ring you later. Within seconds I was out the door, I cried all the way home but at least I didn't get upset in front of Pop's.

Its more the recovery thats concerning me, you know, the going in to collect, seeing the wound and how sorry they look. :001:
Any tips on after care for her, reason im asking is I have a number of dogs here and sweepie is a jumper up. Im wondering whether to crate her for her own safety :029: What do ya think :001:
Tanya
20th August 2008, 15:35
If she's used to a crate I'd be inclined to crate her when you're not around, although if she has a buster collar on, may not fit comfortably in one ;)
As for looking sorry for themselves, until you've had a greyhound spayed you don't know the meaning of the word...they really are the softest breed out and scream at the slightest knock :063::045::045::045:

I put Poppy in her crate for the first few hours cos she tried to jump up on the sofa when she came home. Then I put one of the seat cushions off the sofa on the floor to make steps so she could get up easier.

When I was down with you today - after seeing that lot play I would crate her when they are having play time
get a T-shirt ready to put on her to cover her wound too
Think she had plenty of cuddles off J today :038: he even asked if he could bring her home :045:

Just off the phone to the vets and Sweepie is fine to go home at 3pm today everything according to the receptionist went ok. I cant wait to get her back home with me. Ive had boarding dogs go home earlier than expected due to the bad weather so im going to get time to devote to her :046:
Although this is a huge relief to me, I have another major worry as Belle has developed a marking on her eye which could be a number of things so well have to wait and see about that :001:
Thanks to all of you for your support :075:

Sweepie is home andpretty much still out of it :035: I bought her a new bed and she hasnt moved from it since she came back, she is feeling very very sorry for herself. I think its the 1st time she has ever been this quiet :077:
Belle's eye is to be checked again in 3 weeks, worse case cenario it could be a cancer thing and if it is she will have to have that eye removed :069: BUT we are hoping it isnt so just have to wait and see. :010:

Well Sweepie has had her stitches out today :046: Thank the lord, trying to keep her still for 5 mins has been a nightmare :011: I did confess to the vet that she had only been quiet for 2 days and she had jumped up a few times :035: Her wound has heeled well :046: So its upwards and onwards with her training and have an assessment with a FTCH cocker traininer soon to guide us on our way :046: (although sweepie will NEVER be a champ at anything, but if I can get her to sit for more that 2 mins will be an achievement) :012:
