:058:
I just bumped into a lady with the most gorgeous squidgy golden retriever pup, and of course went over to say "aww" the conversation followed like this:
her: is that a puppy?
me: No, he's 2.
is he friendly?
yep very
doggies now have a friendly sniff and Jarvis does his typical puppy greeting of a little growl, and she yanks her dog away like he's been mauled ^^
i thought you said he was friendly
he is, he's just a bit gobby.
are you SURE he's friendly
well, i've had him 2 years, and he's never gone for another dog, so yep, pretty friendly
jarvis makes another slight noise and she yanked the dog away again :058:
your dog looks nervous
No, he isn't nervous at all, just very vocal and keen to have a run around.
Cue lecture on dog behaviour and socialisation from me. :076: :042:

doncha just HATE that...
i got it the other morning from a woman with a JRT on an extendable lead - was with Jarv, submissive Apple and friend choc lab Milly (who IS a bossy girl).
This woman was just in the playing field so we didn't see her - but the dogs did and started going up (very politely) to see the JRT.
Cue the screaming 'get your out of control dogs away from mine' (at that racket the dogs decided they needed to get closer ....)....so with much calling and enticement all 3 dogs were called away from the fishwife and put on leads.
Cue me 'is your dog fear aggressive then?'
'WHAT?' said the fishwife
(repeat of question)
'NO, I JUST DON'T LIKE MY DOG MEETING OTHER DOGS' (yes the fishwife was FAIRLY loud)
'if the dogs are off lead here it means that they are socialised and friendly....'
'FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN THEY'RE OUT OF CONTROL AND WOULD ATTACK MY DOG'
riiiiigggggghhhht.
has anyone met my out of control danger to other dogs pooch? :001::001:

It makes you wonder if some folk do any research into dog care/behaviour/socialisation :057: Their dogs are probably picking up on all the 'scary strange dogs' fear being generated by the owners as well :058:
Great pic btw, love his expression :045:

Silly woman! Thomas makes grunting noises when he gets stroked, numerous times people have asked me if he's growling :074: I just tell them he's purring!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH how annoying I hate this we get a lot of it from fellow dog walkers my lot are all mellow and well socialised and I get fed up with the lame excuses people make for not letting their dog be a dog and meet and greet my lot dragging their dogs away.
On the other hand Kaylie my 12 year old Samoyed got more than she bargained for when she walked up to a Lab and almost got her ear torn off she needed 12 stitches and the Lab is still walking around off lead and still attacking last dog attacked needed over 50 stitches so I am told ....
