I think they are an absolute necessity, especially in Liverpool town centre on a Friday and Saturday night
Maybe in the future they will become to much and start to "spy" on us, but for the safety and protection of others I think they are a good thing. I mean how many crimes have been solved because of CCTV evidence. Its not the cameras we need fear its the people who operate them, in Liverpool last year a man was successfully prosecuted for using his operator status to spy on a young woman for months, now thats just creepy

yeah deffo. especially the new ones that "talk".
i was car jacked in London about 5 years ago, the guy asked me if i had dropped my purse and when i went to take it off him he tried to drag me out of the car, nicked my bag and off they went on spending spree. Thankfully i wasn't hurt and I was insured.
But i think of those poor prostitutes inIpswich that were murdered and all the kids that are snatched not to mention the gang crimes.
I think it is only people with something to hide who object to them. Think how much safer the vulnerable peole will feel knowing that thay are being looked after.

ooh alpha you just gave me another idea for a debate. what about... should all babies have their dna taken? i think they should btw. also i think all kids/babies should have a chip like what dogs have. preferably ones that can track. it would stop most kidnappings dead. i also think it would be good to chip and track all the peados and other nasties who roam the streets.well actually thats not strictly true, what i think needs doing to the nasties i cannot write on a public forum.

I don't see anything wrong with cctv camera's or DNA profiling etc. I have nothing to hide so why would i? (Where's that angel smiley?)
I think it's really sad that it's neccesary, but it is. :|

I totally agree (looking like not much of a debate here lol) ID cards and DNA testing and CCTV are all a must the only reason a person would have to complain was if they were doing something they shouldn't. I did forensics at uni and the amount of stuff we did on IDing criminals and how if the people who had CCTV replaced the tapes more often the evidence would be a whole lot better quality but no they use the same tape over and over meaning when a crime happens you can't see anything in detail. A DNA database (NDNAD) and finger prints (NAFIS (mine are in there, through volunteering)) would mean a fingerprint or viable piece of DNA evidence would lead them straight to the person rather than the person getting off. Also it would help with unidentified bodies helping their families by ending the worry of not knowing.

ok i agree its not a bebate coz we all seem to feel the same.
how about wording it differently and adding to it.
HERE GOES
hight tech surveilance. including speed cams/cctv and any other stuff you may think of thats used like chip and pin theft from the toerags who have devises to steal our money from our bank accounts (this i thought had happened to jim a few weeks ago after i couldn't top up my phone using his card) there is all kinds of stuff out now that people can spy on you with. i inadvertantly had my neighbours details come up on my wireless lappy just after i got it. i was terrified that my lappy had broken into her pc and that i would be arrested. it turns out the only details picked up was something to do with her media player or something like that. we really don't get on but i had to knock and show her what was happening.
