Had Fred at V.E.T.S yesterday as he still had a runny bum and now there is muscus/blood in it. The vet had a look at the thoughtfully provided (on pavement outside) stool sample and after taking temp and generally prodding around at him for 10 mins that he thought it was colitis.
He has had an injection (tried to kiss vet while he was doing it), has a course of tablets to take for a week and I have been advised to keep him on the food he is on and add 'live' yoghurt to it. He was weighed (is 14.25 kg) and although he is a bit on the skinny side the vet was v impressed with his muscle tone and general condition and not to worry about being skinny as was probably going through a growth spurt. He also said that this was prob just a flair up and would settle once he through his puppy stage and would prob not be a problem later on- if it was it could be managed by diet and not to worry was not going to recommend some horribly expensive food as there was plenty of good foods out there and his Spangle with colitis thrives on Chudleys (Fred currently on Junior Mix)
Feel better knowing why he not so 'solid' in the deposit area but now worried whether there is something else I should be doing for him re food etc.
Any suggestions welcome
