Hi guys
Monday is going to be really stressful for me and worrying
since Nov last yr i have been waiting for an appointment for my 12 yr old to go in to hospital to have his tonsils out
well he started high school on Tuesday and so has spent this week there and now goes in to hospital on Monday to have his tonsils out.
we have to be at the hospital at 8am and it will take us an hour and a half to get there! I have just learnt that we will have to stay over night on the Monday after the op - I'm dreading it and can't wait for it to be over and done with.
To make matters worse i feel like I'm coming down with a cold so am dozing myself up as OH can't do the hospital bit (he will be working from home to be with my other child and dogs tho)
Help I need to not show how scared I am for my son but I am any advice / prayers will be welcome
So I'll be off line for a while but thinking of you all ;)

Oye Oye Oye...you'll be fine and so will the wee man. You have to be brave for him or he'll panic as well. I got to admit i love the feeling you get when they are putting you under. i am surprised you have got to stay in over night they normally throw you out 10 minutes later here  .

But He had a blood disorder which could be the reason for this ................ even the dr's had to look it up once it was diagnoised so it's rare but herediataty (sp)
My dad had it and has passed it on shame it wasn't money lol

I think posting on a forum telling how scared you are shows you have courage . You will be suprised as said previous at how in these situations us mothers can show bravery in front of our children when they need to be reassured . Your son will be fine and you'll be there for him which is all he can ask . If he's anything like my son he'll want to bring his tonsils home in a jar
See you back here when it's all done , Keep your tongue out (I have no idea what that means either my dad says it all the time :? )

Why is on the whole your parents just pass on all all the stuff they don't want. Its a bit of biological car boot sale ;)

Thanks guys ;)
Well what a wee superman I have ;) :13: (SI I need an angel smilie ;) )
He went under no prob no signs of worrying (well from him anyway :11: )
He came round and kept asking if they had his tooth :?: I was totally baffled :|
Well it turns out when he woke up his tongue automatically went to play with a loose tooth and it wasn't there, this was made clear before he could explain to me what he meant by a nurse coming in and saying she has a present and handed me a specimin jar with his tooth in it
Anyhow about an hour later he was sat up in bed eating a banana followed by a round of ham sandwiches (Angel smilie) Then we watched a dvd and played PS2 (portable player on his bed table)
And the other kids came back crying and screaming, poor things but Michael was an (angel smilie)
He took all the medication (pain killers) without a fuss and even walked down to the other ward where we were to spend the night. Ate his tea no bother and eventually got some sleep about 11pm (doG knows how with the racket on the ward, i managed about 2 hours all night)
dr did rounds about 8.45am this morning and as he has been so good and eating he was told if he promised to keep eating he could go home. (apparently eating is the best way for it to heal and day 4, 5 and 6 will be the sore days for him so have to keep the pain killers going for 7 to 10 days)
we arrived home 10.30am and he has had a lovely bath and is now curled up on the settee with his duvet watching TV :13: I'm actually hoping he will fall asleep as the poor mite is shattered as am I
He will be off school for 2 weeks much to his disgust (Jamie would love to be off school, like chalk and cheese they are where school is concerned) this is maily due to possible infection
Thanks again for all your kind thoughs and wishes :12:
(PS looks like i have a lot of reading to do )

glad you're home now cazza, after your texts yesterday i was feeling pangs of guilt every time i lit a ciggie
i think your boy was very brave. my friends 17 year old son had to have an op on his feet recently(he has a form of muscular dystrophy) when it was time to have the stitches out he was howling like a baby. my friend was fuming with the way he created   she refused point blank to go with him when it was time to have the metal wire things that were in his toes removed. she made his dad go instead :P

I am really glad that everything went well and that you are both safe and sound at home.
You sound like you should be pampered now...so feet up and glass of wine for you later.

What a week :04: It's been really painful to watch him try to eat and on Sunday he was in tears
I ended up phoning the hospital and thought he would end up going back in but thankfully I think that was the low before he started to get better
Yeterday i took him out to see Fern's breeder so she could meet Braan and he seemed 100% better
last night he was still better and had less pain relief so hopefully this it and he will continue to improve and be back at school on Monday
Couldn't believe that he had to have 2 weeks off but I can see why now
My elec is bout to go off fo maintenance on the lines so I'd better log off for now

NO Pain relief today at all - what a turn around from last Sunday
Back to normal on Monday - that's gonna feel strange to me as he goes back to school and i'll have 3 dogs to look after

Glad all is well however.
