can't quite beleive how this morning events have turned out...
i had to phone hubby to get him home from work..in oder to get me to the vets asap this morning...as my neighbour was out walking her dogs..( always the way)...
but also knowing what i know...Olive's mum melody really reacts to stings...and looks like this is a genetic thing..as olive has reacted really badley to a sting of some kind...and has had to have steriod injections and an anti histimine injection and they have given me piriton due to her small size and being so tiny when she was small..
my heart was in my mouth..as she was swelling right before me..her eyes both fully shut..her head swelled...her muzzle area went rock solid as she swelled...and her nasal area swelled...they have monitored her for a while..incase the airway became affected too..steriods have started to work..but she did cry when the injections went in...love her...don't look if you have a delicate tummy...this was'nt too bad..this was after the injections...
so healing hugs for my precious baby girl Olive..xxxx

Oh the poor wee darling! That must have been so sore. Good thing about antihistamine injections is they start to work fairly quickly. What a shame for the poor wee scrap though. Wonder what it was? There are still loads of wasps here amongst the fir trees. Hope her wee snout goes back to normal size ASAP!! Huge hugs from here xxxxxxx

aw thanks everyone...we are fairly sure its a bee..same as her mum got stung by a bee a few years ago..most dogs won't react..apart from a bit of minor swelling..not quite sure why these have reacted so bad...but vet said today this could be a genetic fault somewhere as both mother and daughter have reacted so badley ( also this year a litter sister to olive also swelled and that was a bee too)..she is very sore..and very quite( not like you saw her on tuesday Sandra..)...and just wants lots of cuddles..melody and olive both require steriods..piriton won't help as their little bodies go in overdrive mode...which it did affect melodys breathing..and olive was getting to that stage..this happened so quickly..less than 30 mins ..thankfully the steriod has helped..she can now see better..but muzzle is still quite stretched and hard..it can take upto 12 hours..just phoned the vets to update them...and got to give her the pills they gave me aswell...hopefully by tommorrow she will look her beautiful self again..and not the water filled elephant head she is right now..bless her..not the best start to a thursday morning..but things have improved a little..so thants great..got enough worry with barnaby ..without all the added drama of Olive..thanks for all your lovely messages for my tiny girl olive..xxxxx

Poor wee soul.
I had something similar happen with Livvy years ago, with carpet freshner when we had the shop. I thought I'd hoovered it all up, its the first time id ever used it, and the last. I'd finished for the day about 9, but had to go back into the shop for something about 10 ish, and Livvy came with me, I think Cleo did too, but it never affected her.
Her feet swelled where she walked on it, and she musta sat down cos her bum and lady bits swelled, then she must have tried to wash herself and her tougue and face swelled, her eyes disappeared into little slits.
It was an evergency dash to the vet at midnight, her airways had swelled and closed up by the time I got there. Was so scary. She had a couple of injections and everything started going down within a few minutes. Vet said it was close call. I've never used that stuff ever since, no air freshner sprays or anything. Just used smelly candles and insence sticks and burning oils and crystals now.
Its just a pity they dont have the capacity to learn from things like that ay? xxxx
